PVC-Coated Fiberglass Insect Screen

Fiberglass Window Screen

Fiberglass window screen, also known as fiberglass insect screen or fly screen, is woven from PVC-coated glass fibre yarn and heat-set so the crossings bond, giving a light, flexible mesh that keeps insects out of windows and doors.

What is fiberglass window screen?

Each glass fibre yarn is coated with PVC, woven into a plain-weave mesh and then heat-set. Heat-setting fuses the coating at every crossing, so the openings stay square, the cut edges do not fray, and the mesh can be cut to any size.

18 × 16 mesh is the standard window screen and keeps out flies and mosquitoes. 18 × 14 gives a little more airflow for doors and porches, and 20 × 20 also stops very small insects. The weight per square metre shows how much PVC coating the yarn carries: a heavier mesh is stronger and lasts longer.

Fiberglass screen is light and flexible, does not rust or dent, and is the most economical choice for most windows. It is fitted with spline in aluminium or uPVC frames, and is also used in retractable and magnetic screens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is fiberglass window screen made of?

It is woven from glass fibre yarn coated with PVC. The glass core gives strength and keeps the mesh stable; the PVC coating gives colour, flexibility and weather resistance.

What does 18 × 16 mean?

18 yarns per inch in one direction and 16 in the other. It is the standard window screen and keeps out flies and mosquitoes.

What does the weight in g/m² tell me?

It shows how much PVC coating is on the yarn. A heavier mesh, such as 120–130 g/m², is stronger and more durable than a lighter one.

Which colour should I choose?

Charcoal and black reduce glare and give the clearest view outside. Grey matches most window frames. White suits white frames.

Fiberglass or stainless steel window screen?

Fiberglass is lighter, cheaper and easy to install. Stainless steel is stronger and harder for pets and rodents to damage. Both keep out insects.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Mesh count, weight, colour, roll width and length, packing, quantity, and the destination port.
